Facebook apologizes for security alerts sent to users outside of Pakistan – Express

Shortly after the blast on Sunday that killed 72 people in Lahone in Pakistan, many Facebook users began to receive strange messages through the social network all over the world, including Portugal. People with notifications via SMS troubled when reading “was affected by the explosion?” and a request for confirmation of your security status.

Facebook has apologized through a publication in the network itself and said that it was a mistake. “We have worked quickly to solve the problem and we apologize to all the people who received the notification in error.”

Safety Check was launched by Facebook in October 2014. However, this is not the first time oa tool cause controversy. In November 2015, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of social network, apologized for the security check has been activated for the Paris attacks but not for a bombing in Beirut the day before.
