Space station astronauts build tool with … – iOnline

The astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) are building a tool using a 3D printer, with instructions that they were sent from Earth by email.

This is the first time that the astronauts of the ISS are making a tool – like a wrench – with a 3D printer, with instructions sent by NASA – Space Agency American.

So far, the astronauts on the ISS – which is in orbit about 300 kilometers from the Earth – had to wait a few months until they receive some equipment or object ordered in a regular space travel.

Barry Wilmore, head of the astronauts of the ISS, made the request to use the tool and the answer came from the company that created the 3D printers.

The ERA has a 3D printer and since November, according to NASA, the machine will help astronauts to have more autonomy in space long-term missions.
