The central Algarve now has a Heliport Base in Permanent Service, located next to the headquarters of the municipal fire Loulé. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Anabela Rodrigues, visited on Tuesday the new facilities of this infrastructure, including a building with 15 rooms for pilots, doctors and nurses who provide service to the helicopter INEM in permanent service as well as other air assets for firefighting, search and rescue.
The Base building represents an investment of 600,000 euros, supported by Loulé municipality. On the other hand, the National Civil Protection Authority (ANPC), the Inter-Community Algarve – Amal and the Federation of the Algarve Fire formalized a protocol to provide about 1.2 million for the Special Device Fire Fighting forest of the Algarve in 2015. Since amount, the ANPC will enter with 953,000 euros and the 16 municipalities of the region with the remaining 318,000 euros.
The president of the Federation of Algarve Fire, Paulo Morgado, took the opportunity to complain to the minister that “slow to appear” the law that provides humanitarian associations and municipalities financial conditions to ensure the sustainability and operational requirements for firefighters. In turn, Anabela Rodrigues announced that it is to “very soon” the signing of the formal protocol to create the basis for the Central District of Relief Operations (CDOS) near the Heliport Base in Permanent Service in Loulé, near Via Infante.
