However, Outlast 2 will not have the sanatorium Mount Massive main scenario. According to Morin, the game will be in the same universe of the first game, but will feature new characters and other details not yet revealed by creators who promise something special for fans of horror.

“Maybe we can go back to the sanatorium Mount Massive someday, but right now we have new ideas and themes that we would like to explore, and I believe that we are preparing something special,” Morin said in an interview with Bloody Disgusting site.

In Outlast, players assume the role of investigative journalist Miles Upshur, we need to investigate an abandoned building with just a night vision camera sanatorium. By following the clues and dark corridors of the place, he begins to discover the horrific and grotesque details that haunt the Mount Massive.

The game also won a DLC called Whistleblower, which shows the events before Arrival of the journalist Miles. In it, the software engineer Waylon Park starts to get angry with the human experiments that he witnesses in the sanatorium and decides to investigate on their own.

Outlast was released in September 2013 for PC. The game came to PlayStation 4 in February this year and made his debut on the Xbox One in June. Still no release date or confirmed for the following platforms.
