A new type of virtual plague is affecting Brazilian users and stealing very important information for all those infected. It is a malware that is spreading in an executable file called “MulheresPerdidas.exe”. It installs itself on computers and is hidden in Google Chrome, capturing and relaying all information to remote servers – even creating fake pages for those affected enter their data.

laboratory information ESET Latin America, the malware uses well-known techniques to propagate through the internet. One is infection with the use of a “dropper ” – “that installs other files in the system to propagate so that the user does not identify his presence,” according to ESET own. Another practice would be the aforementioned creation of fake pages.

Camouflaging is in the form of other well known names of files by users and also by the operating system (all installed after running the “MulheresPerdidas.exe”), the malware can create fields of relevant information in the browser Google Chrome – which may have been chosen because of the wide public. With this, users end up typing their SSNs, passwords and bank accounts directly to hackers without any suspicion.
