Tetris can help to treat "lazy eye" - News Journal

The famous game Tetris may be the answer in the treatment of amblyopia, also known as “lazy eye.” A group of Canadian researchers found that the game trains both eyes and out them to work together.

Amblyopia visoa the main problem affecting children during childhood. One of the main treatments is to cover the stronger eye, forcing the other. However, success has been only partial among younger and even ineffective in adults.

Some researchers at McGill University in Canada, found that more force himself indicated the two eyes to cooperate than pressing the weaker eye. Thus, a team led by Robert Hess decided to use the Tetris game to help in the treatment of amblyopia. The study used a special glasses that share the vision: one eye v colored blocks to fall, and the other, just see the blocks on the floor.

In a statement, Robert Hess says ocrebro “has a remarkable plasticity” that may be the key to the treatment of some problems in the vision “lost”. Thus, the main objective of this investigation includes improving the elasticity of the brain to decrease amblyopia.

tests were conducted on 18 people with amblyopia where half played Tetris with the stronger eye covered and the other, played with special glasses. The first group had only a few improvements while in players who have used the new method, the results showed a significant improvement in vision as well as perceo deep.

team from McGill University est pleased with the results and now expects to ascertain the real applicability of the method in children for North America.
