Google Browser now opens Office documents - LOCAL.PT

TENCOLOGIA – The Browser Google already has an extension that lets you open Word, Excel or Powerpoint. The announcement of this new extension was made on the 25th of April. Google says that Chrome can now view Microsoft Office files in a more secure and faster, and this without the user needing to exit the Browser.

One advantage, besides the speed, this extension is that Google protects users from malware, viruses are sometimes within the Office files, says Jelte Liebrand, Software Engineer at Google.

Chrome Office Viewer works on Windows, Mac and Chromebooks. The application allows you to search (ctrl + f), printing and even zoom.
