Chairman of the polytechnic institutes admits mergers ... - Express

Lisbon, April 24 (AFP) – The president of the Coordinating Council of Polytechnic Institutes (CCISP), Joaquim Mourato, argued today that there are no more polytechnics in the country, but admitted that it will watch briefly mergers between these institutions.

“Clearly there are more polytechnics. [...]. Mergers have to be willingly.’s possible that in these cases have little time, but we must do this way,” said Joaquim Mourato to journalists at the end of the tender for the network of polytechnic studies and based on the report commissioned from the “Center for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEPS)” at the University of Twente in the Netherlands, which was held today in the Council National Education.

CCISP the President considers it appropriate to continue the path of rationalization, especially in the number of existing courses and argues that for the immediate future of polytechnic rather than mergers, the solution “easier” passes by regional consortia involving institutes, but also local businesses, enhancing the development of the regions in which they are installed.
