The Media Player PlayStation 4 gets its update yesterday, the 13th day of October, adding support for photos and videos in 360 degrees.
the owners of The console can upload the content via a USB pen and turn on the "VR Mode" in the options menu of the Media Player, to have access to the content in the headset of the Playstation VR.
The video formats accepted are: MKV, AVI, MP4, MPEG2-PS , MPEG2-TS and AVCHD. For the photos, are accepted in the formats JPEG, BMP, and PNG. The images and videos will be captured in a format equirectangular for a camera omnidirectional 360 degrees.
The update (version 2.50) includes further refinements to audio files, adding support for
files of high-resolution FLAC, and upscaling of low resolution video thanks to a technology Sony’s DSEE HX.
