Huawei entered the race of hybrids with MateBook – Shifter

Huawei is concerned to give its customers the best products with the best design. The manufacturer followed the tradition and scheduled a press conference at the “Zero Day” at Mobile World Congress and presented to the press its new product line, including its first hybrid and many accessories.

The presentation he began with the Executive Director, Richard Yu, showing great concern for the effectiveness and portability of their equipment, accompanied by an elegant design. And it is precisely there that the MateBook kicks in.

Similar to other hybrids, this 2-in-1 functions both as a tablet, aluminum covered in gray or golden color, like a laptop. The screen of 12.1 inches, has a technology that improves the saturation of colors and has the resolution of 2160 × 1440 pixels.

in terms of size, we are talking about a tablet it weighs 640 grams, is 6.9 mm thick and with a screen-to-body ratio of 84%, ie has very sharp edges to make the most of its size. This is higher than that found in the iPad Pro and Surface Pro 4.

It is also the issue of autonomy that this product stands out. Unlike other hybrids, the 4430 mAh MateBook promise ten hours away from the outlet and a 25% saving higher compared to its competitors. Charging is done via USB-Type C entry.

When you go into laptop mode, MateBook includes a cover similar to that which exists for the iPad Pro and Galaxy TabPro S, presented by Samsung at CES 2016 . That is, it has both a protective function as well as a keyboard with keys wide but without any space between them. In the first printing, the keys appear wider than normal, making it easy to write. The keyboard is splash-proof small and offers two possible angles of use.

There is also a fingerprint sensor on the side of the product that is constantly ready for use, meaning that not you need to “wake up” the MateBook to recognize your finger. Equipping all this are the sixth generation of Intel processors – M3, M5 and M7 – which can reach a frequency of 3.1 GHz, a very significant number for a product category and taking into account what it promises in terms of battery. There are versions with 4GB or 8GB of RAM and dis 128 to 512 GB SSD.

The MateDock

A computer needs all entries and any type to be able to adapt to situations. Impossible to put all these entries in the tablet body, Huawei also introduced the MateDock. As its name suggests, it is a prqueno product that has entries for the Ethernet cable, HDMI and more USB 3.0 wo.

the MateDock cover also has a compartment for busting what might be called a multifunction pen. The MatePen accompanying hybrid, has 2048 pressure levels, but also functions as … a laser, widely used in presentations, and also a “presentation clicker.” On a single charge, a use is provided for a month.

Huawei also follows the line of other hybrids and equipped the MateBook with Windows 10 and all its features like Cortana. Will hit the market with a price starting at 799 euros but with the keyboard (149 euros), MatePen (69 euros) and MateDock (99 euros) are sold separately. All in all, the “total package” exceeds EUR 1000.
