Remittances from emigrants working in Portuguese speaking countries in October exceeded the € 268 million and will close 2013 with a higher than the prior year total value:. EUR 289.3 million
According to the Statistical Bulletin of the Bank of Portugal, released on Wednesday, Portugal received € 268 million Portuguese working in countries with Portuguese as the official language, with a large contribution of 245 million euros sent by expatriates in Angola.
For their part, immigrants from these countries Portugal sent employees into their territory of EUR 245 million, largely underpinned by the 207.4 million that Brazilians sent to the other side of the Atlantic.
statistical bulletin released with Data for October, does not allow a direct comparison between October 2013 and October 2012 for African Countries of Portuguese Official Language (PALOP), since it only shows the aggregate transfers in first 10 months of the year (January to October).
According to the total numbers of the first 10 months of this year, the emigrants sent to Portugal to EUR 2440 million, of which 754 million are from France and 568 million in Switzerland, the two largest emitters, while that immigrants sent 466 million euros, with emphasis on the 207.4 million shipped by Brazilians.
Looking just at the Portuguese-speaking African countries, it appears that in all, with the exception of Angola, has been exceeded in the first 10 months of this year the total amount sent by Portuguese immigrants in 2012.
Cape Verde came to EUR 2.697 million from January to October, compared with 2.389 million in 2012.
In Guinea-Bissau, the Portuguese sent 436 thousand euros until October (246,000 in 2012) in Mozambique remittances were worth 5.607 million against 5.003 million in 2012, and Sao Tome and Principe, January to October were sent to Portugal 553 000 euros, exceeding EUR 338 000 2012.
Angola is the exception:. between January and October the Portuguese expatriates sent 254.8 million, whereas in 2012 they had sent 270 600 000
