Kim Dotcom, founder of Megaupload site, will launch political party - The Associated Press

While waiting for the next trip to court and try to avoid extradition to the U.S., the German Kim Dotcom, formerly the creator of the popular sharing site Megaupload, is in his mansion in New Zealand to prepare a political party.

Dotcom (who once called Schmitz) was arrested at home, in January 2012, a police operation with film contours and Megaupload site, which served to sharing files and was used for about 180 million people, was dismantled.

Freed on bail, Dotcom – a personage known for corpulence and extravagant tastes – has not been stopped. A year ago, and in an attitude of defiance, launched another file sharing site called Mega, which quickly became a platform for the unauthorized circulation of films, music and other content.

He also recorded an album of electronic music. “When you have a family with five children, and faces a charge that could mean 80 years in prison, is not in a good mental state. But why is that music helped me. When I was in the studio, everything else is shut down, “now explained in an interview with British newspaper The Guardian .

As

music, new website, the five sons and lawsuit were not enough, is about to make a foray into politics: the party with which it intends to apply this year in New Zealand parliamentary elections will present place on 20 January. The date is the eve of the 40th anniversary of Dotcom and also the second anniversary of the arrest. Political consultant Dotcom says Guardian has the list of clients the Russian oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky, recently released.

With a little shred of reliable reputation, Dotcom (who in 1990 was sentenced to a suspended prison sentence for computer fraud) has tried in recent times to pass the image of a defender of liberties online.
