SpaceX reveals first spacecraft to carry astronauts – Info Online

SpaceX company introduced its first spacecraft capable of taking astronauts into space. The announcement was made by Elon Musk at the company headquarters in Hawthorne, Los Angeles (USA).

Capsule Dragon V2 is a modified version of a spaceship that is now used to deliver cargo to the station version International Space (ISS). It is also an improved version of the Russian Soyuz capsule.

The differential Dragon V2 is that it is able to send up to seven astronauts into space in just a flight and still come back to Earth after. That’s more than double the capacity of the Soyuz currently used by NASA (the U.S. space agency).

Thanks for propulsion and other technologies, the Dragon V2 is able to land without relying on hard landings or parachute . According to Musk, the ship is able to land almost anywhere like a helicopter.

Another advance is the Dragon V2 is reusable. This will reduce the cost of space travel and further expand the opportunities of humans explore space. “While we continue throwing away rockets and spacecraft, we will never have true access to space,” Musk said.

SpaceX has already made three of their 12 scheduled for the International Space Station missions within the contract with NASA 1.6 million dollars. According to Musk, the ship must make a test flight in 2015, even without crew. The first astronauts are sent only in 2016
