Data from consultants for the second half once again show differences, generated by different formula for calculating the sales and equipment, but the trend is the same. In the first quarter PC sales had fallen about 10%, with HP to show greater losses.
IDC indicates that between April and June 2016 PC sales fell 4.5% in comparison annual, above the forecast which pointed to a 7.4% fall. In total they have been sold 62.4 million devices. According to the consultant, the numbers were “saved” especially the North American market, which had a higher than expected performance reflecting a stronger dollar and increased stability of the market.
For the Gartner sales this quarter they fixed on 64.3 million, a decrease of 5.2% over the same period of 2015, totaling seven consecutive quarters of losses in the PC market, but are also seen positive signs, particularly in the north American market.
Some trends as the possibility of recovery in sales due to the replacement of equipment to enjoy the end of the free upgrade of Windows, and investment esvio on mobile phones and tablets to PCs can bring the numbers to positive territory even before 2018.
in terms of brands Lenovo maintained its leadership, with strong growth in the US market but with a few slip-ups in other markets, which has driven down global growth. HP has resumed positive growth, as well as Dell that managed to grow in Japan and the United States, while in Europe and the Middle East continue with poor performance.
Also the Asus managed to recover in the second quarter, surpassing Apple and earning the fourth position in the top manufacturers. IDC admits that the loss of Apple’s position is related to increased competition while the company waits to refresh your portfolio computers, which affected sales.
