The Minister of Employment and Social Security refuses to be any delay in the assessment of applications for retirement because of lack of staff of the National Pensions Centre (CNP) and ensures that on average the services take 35 days to approve the granting of new pensions.

Pedro Mota Soares was responding to accusations of PCP deputy, Jorge Machado, who warned that since January no early retirement had been allocated and that the CNP struggled with problems of lack of workers and working conditions.

During a parliamentary hearing that is taking place on Wednesday, the minister added that by March 2621 applications were received for early retirement and that about 40% were dispatched. “1019 applications were actually dispatched” he said.

Access to early retirement by private sector employees was frozen between April 2012 and December 2014. In January, the Government partially thawed access to workers with 60 years of age and 40 of discounts.

This scheme is temporary and lasts only in 2015.

Who ask for early retirement has to rely on high penalties via the sustainability factor and the rule that for every month that miss to the legal age (66 years) the board will have a 0.5% cut.

The CFP maintained its position and, at the hearing the minister, delivered on the table of the Committee of Labour and Social Security an application requesting the hearing “urgently” the president of the Institute of Social Security, Mariana Ribeiro Ferreira.

In the application, the CFP claims to have been confronted with information of “extremely serious” and who register with the CNP “very significant delays in pension allocation processes” and other problems that “constitute a denial of access to social security to the citizens,” violating the Constitution.

“For the CFP high wait times are not acceptable to the award of a pension or long lines are acceptable waiting to enter the contact hours, “states Rita Mouse deputies, Jorge Machado and Davis Costa signing the application.
