A lie detector for social networks – Facebook, Twitter or Instagram – which aims to help government organizations and emergency services detetarem in real time, including rumors that arise in social networks that are based on true or false information and act on the basis of this, is being developed by researchers from five European universities, according to British television channel BBC.
The idea came as a result of the role that social networks were in violent riots that occurred in London in 2011.
Researchers project, dubbed Pheme classified rumors that arise on the Internet in four categories:. speculation, controversy, misinformation and disinformation
And to help sort through the information, the system performs an analysis the credibility of their sources, which include categories such as news portals, journalists, experts or witnesses.
The system that will be developed over the next three years, will also come to have a version for use exclusively for media professionals.
